Tom Ronayne was demonstrator this month. His topic was texture and colour. Tom showed us a range of texturing styles and tools that he uses, as well as colouring techniques and tools. An individual piece, bowl, vase etc. was used for each texturing and colouring style. From Fordhams to Kutsall spherical cutters, from airbrushes to milk paints and water-based paints, Tom used them all to turn out a wide range of objects.
Tom’s demo was the inspiration for April’s competition. In the Novice Section, Paul Doyle was the winner, with Des Doyle in second place. In the Experienced Section, Kieran Reynolds was the winner, with Tom Markey and Bernard Cassidy sharing second place.
It was decided at this meeting that we would participate in The Chapter Challenge at the next Annual Seminar. With about 12 interested in participating, extra meetings were held to research possible entries. It’s a work in progress.
