The Carpentry Store, in association with the woodturner Martin Saban-Smith of Hampshire Sheen are hosting a finishing demonstration via ZOOM this Monday evening at 6pm. This event is free and all information you need to join the meeting is detailed below. There will be a special discount across the range for anyone who joins in on Monday.
Learn Directly From the Guy Who Developed It!

During the demonstration, Martin will clearly show you the recommended application techniques of some of the core products in the Hampshire Sheen range, and inspire you to get Fanatical About Finishing!
By the time the presentation is finished, you will have learned Martin’s philosophy on finishing, his top tips on using abrasives, successfully applying the Intrinsic Colour Collection, Pre-Thinned Sanding Sealer, Gloss Finishing Wax and using the embellishing waxes correctly. It will be a busy couple of hours for sure.
Please have a note book handy. Due to server storage space, this presentation will not be recorded.
Using HD cameras, a crystal clear microphone and Martin’s usual energetic passion for woodturning, you will enjoy an engaging, visually rich and informative professional demonstration.

Terry Smart of Chestnut Products have given us permission to advertise " Conkers Live " which is to support demonstrators and keep turners together during the lockdown. Charity Fundraising and Auction Up-date

Due to the new restrictions on travelling & socialising , the National Executive are unable to collect pieces so they have decided to deferred the auction to a later date. Keep making pieces for this auction and they will be collected at a time when restrictions have been lifted on travelling and socialising. In the meanwhile "Keep turning and stay safe"

Death of Mark Baker

What sad news it was to hear of Mark Baker's death at the weekend. Mark was the Editor of "Woodturning" magazine , a brilliant demonstrator and teacher. He has demonstrated at Irish Woodturners' Guild seminars over the years with his last one at the Radisson Blu hotel in Dublin in 2015. The IWG wish their deepest heartfelt condolences to his wife Sarah, his family and friends on the death of Mark. May Mark rest in peace.
