Presentation of turned work to Killarney Town Council

A development project in Killarney town necessitated the felling of an oak tree. The Kerry Chapter vice chairman, Bob Cosgrave acquired some sections of the tree to see if members could turn pieces  from it that would show the Town Council what  felled timber could be used for.

Though the pieces had quite a few cracks and shakes we managed to produce a number of bowls and platters. The Mayor of Killarney, Councillor Donal Grady, and his officials were very impressed with the work and plan to make use of the Chapters skills to produce  presentation pieces etc. from suitable timber felled in the area.

Kerry Chapter presents bowls turned from Killarney oak and shows some of the members work to Killarney Town Council.

Website - submissions welcomed

Hi All,

I'm hoping that members might submit some content for the site, in the same way is done for the journal. I'm not looking to duplicate upcoming journals however, but past journal submissions would be welcomed. I'm looking for tips, photos, articles, project plans,  stories, URL's etc  just send them in to the webmaster !

An example is the recent "Dust Control in the Workshop" found in the safety section. If referencing other's work though please do get permission.

I also intend to create a classifieds section for IWG Members only. This is not for trade items, but for sale of your 2nd hand tools, dust gathering  lathes etc. Let me know if this is of interest. I'm not intending on any members have their personal details on site, email addresses , mobile numbers etc. I have a machanism in mind for connecting sellers with buyers.

Any other suggestions for the site welcomed,

All the best - Happy turning.
