Mastercrafter - new RTÉ TV series and opportunity for amateur crafts people

Big Mountain Productions are working with the Craft Council of Ireland on a new series for RTÉ that will crown one amateur craftsperson, the Mastercrafter of 2011.

The first five shows will place fifteen apprentices on an intensive two-week residential course in the discipline of their choice: Ceramics, Glass, Metal (blacksmithing), Textiles (weaving) or Wood (wood turning)) under the expert guidance of the relevant Master of Craft.

A judging panel will adjudicate reducing fifteen apprentices down to five allowing just one apprentice from each discipline to take a place in the final five.

Show six the grand finale will be recorded in Dublin on 26th & 27th July with the winner of Mastercrafter of 2011 announced later that afternoon.
